The Truth About
Greenville SC Real Estate

You have probably heard about the failing real estate market, but I want to correct some mis-leading information. Lately, the national news networks have decided to make generalizations about real estate based on national figures, but if you are looking to buy or sell a home in the Greater Greenville Real Estate Market or the Upstate South Carolina area, the Greenville SC Real Estate Statistics are in your favor.
In November 2007 USA Today stated, "For the first nine months of the year, home sales and prices in the Greater Greenville area were both up nearly 1% compared with the same period a year ago. Statewide, sales were down nearly 9%, and prices were flat. There's less than a seven-month supply of houses and condos for sale in Greenville, which is far healthier than the 11-month glut of homes on the market nationwide. Its location between Charlotte and Atlanta has helped buffer Greenville's real estate market from the state and national trends."
The Upstate of South Carolina is growing, there is no question about that. In fact, on October 29th, 2006, Expansion Management Magazine, a leading publication aimed at helping executive decision-makers in site location, released their 8th Annual Top 40 Real Estate Markets. Expansion Management Magazine named Greenville-Spartanburg, SC the 8th market in the country where businesses should focus their expansion efforts.
The Greater Greenville area is home to many corporate headquarters, and it seems like more and more are announced every month. Currently, Greater Greenville is headquarters for BMW North America, Michelin North America, Guaridian Building Products, 3M Tape Manufacturing Division, Agfa Corp, BB&T, Bowater, Datastream Systems, Fluor Daniel, Gerber Childrenswear, Hitachi Electronic Devices USA, Kemet Corporation, Kyocera Mita, RBC Centura, Rockwell Automation, ScanSource, Lockheed Martin Aircraft, and many more (the current list consists of 149 companies with either national or regional headquarters in Greenville County). The addition of ICAR (International Center for Automotive Research), the premier automotive and motorsports research and educational facility in the world, will add greatly to that list.
I sincerely hope this information helps in your decision-making process, and I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about the current state of our market.
